In 2019 I was allowed to photograph several beautiful weddings again. In the “Bohemian Paradise”, a campsite full of old gypsy caravans with a ceremony on hay bales and a closure by a fire. Fortunately the weather cooperated and it was one of the hottest days of the summer. Just a pity that there was no lake around 😉
I also had a wedding in a hostel at De Utrechtse Heuvelrug. A completely different experience, but just as fun! Full of beautiful speeches, a DJ and fries with mayonnaise!
A castle, a proposal and alpacas
At the end of 2019 I had a wedding that I would like to share with you in this blog: a wedding in a castle! My first castle wedding and how beautiful it was …
We started the day with getting dressed and, surprisingly enough, a marriage proposal! Since the bridegroom had never gotten around to it before, it was now time. Of course the bride said yes.
We went outside where it was chilly but sunny for a love shoot around the castle and in the park around it. The bride (and I too!) was hoping for a photo at the petting zoo with the alpacas. She already talked about this during our introduction and I had already checked in advance whether we could reach it. That was certainly possible, but unfortunately the alpacas were not interested in us at all.
Fortunately, there was a beautiful view over the IJsselmeer, a great castle as a background and a beautiful park nearby.
Knights at your wedding
The ceremony was held in the Ridderzaal where real knights where standing guard. A very beautiful and atmospheric place. The wedding official was a cheerful and casual lady. The fact that she always said the bridegroom’s name the wrong way round was not a disaster for her: she mainly laughed it off. The hall and the bridal couple laughed with her. That produced some nice cheerful photos.
At the ring moment, of course, a lot went wrong, as usual, but then they managed to do the rings and they were married 🙂
A beautiful moment that was immediately celebrated with group photos in front of the castle.
Then it was time to drive to the party location. The bridal couple drove in front with the beautiful wedding car, a red oldtimer sports car. With the IJsselmeer on the right, the castle on the left and the blue sky above them, a beautiful moment!
After a cozy lunch, presents, and various speeches, it was time for the other guests to come and cut the cake. What a delicious cake that was. And that was the end of my attendance at the wedding. The day went on without me with a church confirmation of the marriage and good food together.
It was a very beautiful day that the bridal couple look back on with great pleasure.
