In November I received an email for a family shoot with this lovely family. They wanted to have a nice photo taken that they could give to grandpa and grandma for Christmas. Always fun!

The little baby was just fed on arrival and the bigger sister was playing nicely.
They chose the “hour in my life” session, so they kept doing with what they were already doing. During an “hour in my life” session I take pictures of your family for an hour to an hour and a half while you do what you like. It’s a mix between lifestyle and documentary: I focus on beautiful photos of you all, but the funny and imperfect moments like a crying baby should definitely be included.
This session was extra fun: after taking some photos of everyone, it was time to try to take a photo with the four of us. Especially try, because the baby turned out not to be so happy and started crying. Big sister didn’t like that and she wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. The result was a family photo with a crying baby and fleeing sister, smiling mother and baffling father. I thought it was brilliant and shot happily on.
Fortunately, I also had the nice picture before it went wrong. We had just read aloud so that the kids could be happily photographed. But the nice thing was: this family chose the realistic picture! And grandpa and grandma too. I like that!
